A new phase in the Kansas City Sports Talk #RadioWars begins Thursday, March 15 as 610 Sports goes toe-to-toe with Sports Radio 810 as both go “live and local” from 6am until 6pm.

The move, as predicted in this blog several weeks ago, pits six local sports talk shows against each other head-to-head.

Here’s the new rundown:

6am to 10am

(610) Fescoe in the Morning vs. (810) The Border Patrol

10am to 2pm

(610) The Danny Parkins Show vs. (810) The Program

2pm to 6pm

(610) What’s Right with Nick Wright vs. (810) Between The Lines

The change “officially” begins Monday, March 19, but the change will be effective on Thursday to cover local teams in the NCAA tournament.

You may also notice theĀ absenceĀ of a “national” syndicated show called “The Jim Rome Show.” The Rome show has reportedly been a drag on the station’s ratings and provides plenty of opportunity to change the station during the day for most KC listeners. While he was once the “king” of talk nationally, Rome hasn’t been pulling his weight in recent years and will be absent from the airwaves for the first time in Kansas City in over a decade.

The biggest mover (and benefactor) in this shakeup is the expansion of The Danny Parkins show from 2 hours to 4 hours and will be going up directly against Soren Petro’s “The Program.”

I have sent formal requests for participants of the #RadioWars on both sides, but they were all declined. However, Danny Parkins said on Bob Fescoe’s show this morning that, “people in Kansas City want to hear about their teams, and that’s what we’re finally going to be able to give them.”

We will have exclusive coverage of these changes including reaction from key participants throughout the weekend, but effective March 15, there’s your lineup. #RadioWars enters its next phase… NOW.
